S A L O N is a site that explores the politics of form and language in the contemporary from the perspective of feminism. The beginning of the twenty-first century has witnessed the rise of partisan language associated with right-wing politics; hate speech at the most extreme; the charge of “fake news”.

S A L O N recognises the power of language for the contemporary political climate, and seeks to offer a space for new forms of language that might contest and offer resistance to the wider political discourse. Experimental, multi-modal, transgendered and multi-lingual languages are emerging as linguistic forms for inscribing voiceless narratives of those excluded and marginalised.
